Ancillary task Newspaper Advert

I started by looking at inspiration for my newspaper advert. I looked at lots of channel 4 newspaper adverts and also the poster/promotional image for Netflix series, Abstract. My analysis can be seen on my blog.

Inspiration :

Idea :

I liked the ident on the channel 4 adverts with a phrase on so I will use that in my newspaper advert, however, i liked the symmetrical idea of objects within abstracts poster so I will take that idea and incorporate it so that I have a unique newspaper advert which fits the connotations so audiences consume it as an advert and not a poster.

Production :

- I had to go through production for newspaper advert twice, as my original idea did not look as god as i wanted it to and therefore I re did it slightly.

- Originally I set up objects relating to the arts like : cameras, microphones, laptops, thread and lights in a symmetrical fashion with a gap for the text, however, once i completed this it did not look as good as i wanted it to and therefore i re did it with a slightly different idea.

- instead of objects in the advert i would use people. I hired the studio at my school and got 5 friends that looked old and shot portraits of them, this was to portray the next 5 episodes in the series, this looked far more professional as it was done in a studio with proper lighting and people instead of objects.

Creating :

- This was my first draft, I looked at photos that I had taken in the past, however, I was not pleased with how it looked as it looks forced and unprofessional. Therefore, I looked at font types and changed it to a more professional font and also decided to take pictures especially for the advert, I added a picture from on set of my subject for the episode and then took photos of other creatives in there profession such as : Modelling, photography, Sewing/art and graphic design.

- After this which was my second draft it still did not have the professional edge that I wanted. I decided to take a look back at my inspiration and see what conventions i was missing. I realised i did not have an ident/logo, a time it was coming soon and also one of my inspiration adverts was in black so i added these to it which left me with a final outcome that I am proud of.
