Newspaper Advert
- The purpose of a newspaper advert is to grab the audience’s eye and make them intrigued as to what the newspaper is about ( in my case a documentary) . In relation to this, another obvious purpose is to advertise the documentary, letting the viewers know when and where the documentary will be shown. Using my knowledge of Photoshop, I plan to create the media advert using a photograph from my documentary that I will take on set. To create a logo I will have to use tools such as the 'magnetic lasso tool' and the 'free transform tool'
Inspiration/Analysis

- My first impression of this advert was how impactful the darkness of the storm was and that the pure simplicity of the image gave it a great impact drawing the audience in straight away. These features inspired me and is something that I plan to do in mine. The image on the poster looks as though it has come directly from the documentary itself, this encourages the viewer to watch the show to see this sequence for themselves.
The titles are clear and presented in Channel 4’s signature font. The tag line is also pivotal to the audience's engagement with this advert, we can see the tag line at the top left hand corner, the tagline “High on Blow” is presented as black text in a white box. This is immediately striking against the dark mise en scene image. This is visually effective and is something that channel 4 do on lots of their posters, have their logo with an emotional image and a captivating tag line. The ad also gives the information about: when you can watch the documentary and what channel it can be found on. This again was something I will need to be aware of in my newspaper advert, as it is vital that I communicate the when and where the documentary can be seen.

- This is another poster that I have looked at. This image show to us that Channel 4 like to do new and creative things with the ads. This is so it engages the audience making them want to see more. This creative thinking is something I have taken on board and will use in my documentary. Channel 4 have used a visual metaphor, as we can see a child being swallowed by the pavement with everyone else in society walking around as if nothing is happening. It shows how society is swallowing up the poor youth and not caring about them, this poster immediately tells us what the documentary will be about and also conveys a deeper meaning of society. This was created through a high technical level of photoshop which is something that I will try to use in poster whilst taken photos at my interview.

- This is the final poster that I am looking at. It shows a man taking the channel 4 logo as if he has stolen it which works with the title of the documentary, ' shameless'. This has negative connotations from the start. As the text is red around the word and the colour red often has dark connotations. Here the image has a direct correlation to the text and is effective as there is no distractions in the background and is taken in a studio, however, this does mean that it is not from the film shoot directly which is something that I want to do. The poster does again inform the audience about when it is on which something I will make sure I do as it is prevalent in all the posters that I have looked at, there is also a channel logo so I will put my Ident's productions company logo in the poster aswell.
